I think that is the way they designed it to be. they don't want the 'rich get richer' effect to happen. What this means, if each linked to the artist's browse page, then the #1 would 'get richer' and everyone would click on them and it would exponentialy get higher.

by leaving each to just the entire archive browse allows the 'most popular' to be more 'true'. Is that right archive admins?
